WD My Duo Thunderbolt. Video making Backup configuration. it works?

Hi everyone on the community!

I’m Alex from spain, but actually living and working in Florence (Italy).

I bought a WD My Duo Thunderbolt as a part of my not-too-expensive backup system on my post-production workflow.

I was thinking in two possible configurations and I was wondering if someone of you could give some advide, or maybe tell me what would be the better solution.

Configuration 1:

  • WD My Duo Thunderbolt 4TB (2x2TB) in RAID 0 as a WORK DRIVE (4TB TOTAL)
  • Dock + SATA HDD (4TB) as BACKUP WORK DRIVE (with a syncronizing software)

Configuration 2:

  • WD My Duo Thunderbolt 8TB (2x4TB) in JBOD:
    Disk 1 as a WORK DRIVE (4TB)
Disk 2 as a BACK UP WORK DRIVE (4TB)
    (with a syncronizing software)

what do you think is better?

Hello,

Welcome to the WD Community.

Personally, I use a two drive backup solution as this will keep my files on separate locations and is a real backup. So, option number one sound better for me.

Hello ERmorel,

I’m 100% agree. The option 1 sound better. The problem was that I was not sure if it was possible to back up a 4TB RAID 0 HDD (2x2TB) to a 4TB HDD (exfat). But you give me the anwser!

Thank you so much!

I’m glad you were able to identify the best option for you.
