WD My Book Essentials not USB3 when formatted for Mac?

Hi All

I was ready to go purchase a new MBE 4TB Drive for my new iMac when I came across a reivew of which indicated the drive is not USB when re-formatted for Mac, is this correct ?

I wanted USB3 for obvious reasons, I know I could go with a thunderbolt drive but they’re still more than double the price and as Im only using it for backup the additional speed is wasted.

Can anyone confirm this? are there any other WD HDD’s 4TB (or greater on USB3?
