WD Drive not recognizing that I trashed big files

1.  My 1 TB drive showed that I had only 13 GB left.

2.  I  trashed over 200 GB of old back-ups (emptied the trash as well)

3.  My drive still says I only have 13GB left.

Any ideas?

Hello johnedwardlow, welcome to the WD Community. Try running a DLG test, if any problems are found it will try to fix it.

Yes, for Mac’s you can use the Disk Utility.

Thanks jubei40.  I have run Disk Utility but it found no issues with the drive.

Some additional information about this drive:

It is not searchable.  It is listed as a ‘searchable’ drive in Spotlight but searching for a file on the drive turns up no results for files I know for certain are on the drive.

Not sure if these two things are related although, in my mind, they’re both related as evidence that this drive is a dud.
