I need a lot of storage for files on old OS 9 system. Probably old USB ports as well. Is this an issue or will old marry up with new?

Hi there… I don’t think any of the current WD drives are able to work on OS9…

If the USB ports are old it should not matter that much for a desktop drive, but the operating system does… Is there no way at all to update your OS to at least 10.4?
