SMART not supported in Disk Utility- 4TB essentials

Hi All,

I have a 4tb Essentials drive that I am using without Turbo drivers on a Mac running 10.8.4, and it says ‘not supported’ on the attributes row in disk utility. The smartware app smart quick test is passed by the drive, but I really want to be able to see the extended smart attributes in SMARTMonitor and hopefully DriveDx so I can test it. The drive in theory will be going into my production environment shortly (yes I know - I don’t need an Enterprise drive I promise!).

Please let me know if you have the same non-supported issue, and if you have a solution - I know this should be a supported drive. It is GUID HFS+ formatted

S.M.A.R.T. implementation of Mac OS X, only supports ATA, SATA or eSATA hard disk drives.
