Remove password WD My Passport on Mac

I’m using my Passport on Mac as Time machine backup drive but unfortunatelly the drive is password protected. It was a Windows drive but I formated it to mac OS. I only can unlock it via the WD Unlocker app on the drive but I cannot remove the password.

I need the drive unlocked permanently to be able to restore the Maverck OS at boot.

Any suggestions?

in Windows the drive is seen but no partition is recognized.

Hello,

If you format the drive it should delete the password protection. You can also remove it using the WD Smartware or the WD Security software.

It should have deleted but for some reason it didn’t.

WD SmartWare for Mac >>> This does not recognize the external drive

WD Security for Mac >>> “WD Security.app” is damaged and can’t be opened. You should move it to the Trash.

Any other suggestion?

Hi,

It worked!

Somehow, the system recognized the drive once the WD SmartWare app has been enabled. I could restore the OS from Time Machine disk.
