sadly I have a new Mac book pro that got wrecked by an update and they said I needed to erase and reformat and download a new os x on the hard drive. Which is now complete. I had not backed this new Mac up yet. I have a backup on a passport elite that is fairly current and better than nothing!!! Can the Mac migration tool take this vista backup and put the data etc on the Mac?

If the information was backed up manually to the passport elite, you might be able to read the drive on a Mac computer and copy the files manually to the computer. However, if the backup was created with a backup software, you might not be able to do so.
