I have been a PC user until last week when i purchased a new Mac. 

The PC always backuped to “My Book” and now i want to transfer the pictures and videos to my new MAC.

Obviously the files are all based on my PC and not identified on my MAC.

How do i unencrypt the backup files and transfer the files to my MAC

I think you have 2 problems. One is a drive formatted NTFS for Windows will be read only on a Mac. See this post 6# http://community.wdc.com/t5/WD-Portable-Drives/unwritable-drive/td-p/435872 for some solutions.  Second you will probably need the same software you made the backup with to retrieve.
