I purchased a My Passport for Mac external hd back in March. About two months ago, it started making a beeping noise and finally crashed. WD support (who are wonderful) replaced the hd. Now I’ve had this new hd for about two weeks and i noticed one beep from it this morning. Seems to be fine. Does anyone know if this is something to be concerned about?
First time that I heard about it. Are you sure is comming out of the drive.
I get a beeping noise too, definitely from the drive. Time Machine backups fail when that is happening. I’ve been rejecting and disconnecting the drive when I notice it happening. When I reconnect it later, things work fine… for a while.
