WD Drive Manager is NOT 100% Yosemite compatible - unexpectedly quits if you delete or change the RAID mode on an external disk.
I recommend uninstall WD Drive Manager to avoid other problems, until WD releases a update.
if you need to erase the My Book Studio II using Disk Utility app in OSX
Fortunately this time, data on the hard disk is not deleted :smileyvery-happy:
Having similar problem. Just upgraded to Yosemite and while the My Book Studio mounts, Time Machine seems to be stuck in a Preparing Backup mode. Not sure if this is the hardware or the software, or both, having the issue. I am going to leave it running overnight and see what I find.
Not even a full minute after posting my message, Time Machien began backing up to the My Book Studio.
All appears to be functioning properly.
is there a formal respons from WD on the issue?
thanks Wizz
I honestly think I was just being impatient. When it did start to backup, there were 14G, so that may explain the lengthly “preparing to backup” time.
