Not able to get my Mac to recognize my WD passport

I was trying to set up a partition so I could use my external Hard drive as my boot up disk.  In stead i accidently erased the paetition alreqdy on the passport.  Now When I turn on my computer and go to the main strt screen I cant see my drive in the top right hand corner ans d I also cant seeit in Finder.

What do I need to do to get my mac to recognize my WD passport drive?

I know how to parttion and format the drive.  When I was setting up patitions so I could make a bootable bacl up drive fr my Macbook, I erased the partitons by misstake. drive. I hit  continue button before I could undo the actiion.  after that my Macbook would not and still hasnt recognized the drive.  I have try all types of trouble shooting suggestions but still cant get the drive to be reognie, therefore it does even shpw up in Disk Utility. was wondering if someone who hase experience the same type of problem and how they fixed it.
