MyBook 3TB won't show up over FireWire

I just bought a MyBook 3TB external for a hackintosh PC. The motherboard used is a P6T Deluxe v2. The drive connects fine with the bundled USB, but the included FireWire is an 800 to 800 cable. My mobo has a 1934a port. I bought one of these to connect both ways, and when attached the drive lights up, but is not detected. I know I am not using a 1934b port for the wire, but I assumed it was backwards compatible… is this not the case? I can always go back to USB, but I was hoping for a small speed increase for the connection.

Hi, have you checked if the hard drive is recognized on the disk management window? You can also try using a cable from another brand.
