My passport ultra problems using it on Mac book pro

I have connected the WD drive and all thats happened is a short cut on the desk top, and in finder passport is listed under devices on the left.  

however if I try and put a file in it from my computer or from drop box it asks for a authenticity password ? but no password will work so i cannot do anything with the drive.

No software has appeared since I first tried to install it either.

Please help

This drive comes formatted NTFS for Windows use, If you want to use it on a Mac you will need to format it for Mac.
