I have a Mac formatted WDH1Q5000 500GB external hard drive with slit light in the front. I use it for Time Machine backups. It’s connected to an iMac using Firewire 800. Was working fine yesterday. Today only the fan? (I can hear whirring inside the drive housing) is working; no slit light or desktop recognition. Have tried pushing power button, unplugging-repluging. Any ideas how I can get it to work will be appreciated?

check if the drive appears on disk utility
