I installed WD Smartware for MAC Version 1.3.6.1 and in the home tab I can only see my MacBook Air but no WD My Book.
I suppose this is why the tabs Backup and Retrieve are disable. Any idea what to do?

Did you format the hard drive? WD SmartWare will not operate with the unit until the file system has been changed from NTFS to HFS+ depending on the WD My Book revision.
