My Book drive ejecting on it's own and firmware not installing

Having a couple issues. The main issue I am attempting to resolve that it appears many are having is my Mac is ejecting my eSATA My Book drive when it goes to sleep. I unchecked “put hard drives to sleep” and it helps, but overnight my drive always ejects. I am running Mtn Lion (10.8.2).

In an effort to fix this issue I was attempting to update the firmware on the drive. Everything goes smoothly until I enter my password and it starts to install, at which point it stops and gives me a “Firmware update failed. Unable to find device to update. Check your cable connection and then run WD firmware updater again.” It obviously saw the drive to get to this point and I hear the drive start spinning when I get this error. I’ve tried unplugging everything usb except the drive and no luck.

Any ideas on either issue?

Hi, you can try to update the firmware on another Mac, and check if the same problem happens, if that fails, try to disable the password protection and then try again.
