My Book Studio will not connect to USB port of ASUS RT-N66U

My Book Studio connects properly to my Macbook (did a complete backup ) but when I plug it in any USB port of the router it will not connect.

The router has no problems with my LaCie external drive.

What can I do to fix this problem ?

it might not support the drive file sytem

check with the router people to see what format does it need to have

Thanks, I checked with ASUS and they informed me that  the drive should be formatted in FAT32. So now I have to decide to keep it solely as a backup tool wired to my macbook or reformat it to include it in my network.
