Install WD My Book from old Mac to new one

I have WD My Book Elite on iMac OS 10.6.8 Snow Leopard.

Am going to buy new iMac with Lion.

How can I use my existing WD My Book Elite on the new Mac, and transfer backed up files to the new Lion iMac?

Hello,

In order to assist you better I will need to know what Backup software did you use to backup your Snow Leopard computer?

The drive is plug and play and does not require any drivers or software installation in order to operate. However, if you have used WD Smartware to backup the files you will have to install WD Smartware in the new computer in order to retrieve them.

You may also retrieve this files manually by accessing the backup folder inside the external drive. This folder is called “WDSmartware.swstor”.

Thanks!

I do use WD Smartware and have found the files backed up under WDSW.swstor.

IAnd I appreciate that will be able to use the drive on the new computer.

And as a new user, I don’t see the kudos star???
