Doesn’t mount onto desktop … not visible through DiskUtility…ideas?
I don’t know much about Macs but Essentials comes formatted for Windows. You may need the Turbo drivers http://support.wdc.com/product/download.asp?wdc_lang=en&fid=wdsfMyBook_Essential You didn’t mention the drive size or what Mac version you are using.

Joe - thank you. I am on an IMac running the latest Lion 10.7.3 with 1TB drive
Try connecting the USB cable directly to the Mac and the power cable to the wall socket.
Jeez Alucardx23 … hadn’t thought of that…WAIT! Maybe…maybe… it will…ummmm…NO.
How are you connecting the drive USB 3.0 or USB 2.0? Make sure all of your drivers are up to date also. You might check on Mac forums there have been some compatibility issues with Lion.

Hey, you gotta start somewhere. :smileyvery-happy:
Thanks for your assistance.
Given other issues with Lion I think I am going to give up and go back to the Leopard…I’ll let you know if that solves the problem in which case I’ll come back and post my thanks again…
Best
