I need to drag/drop files - NOT backup

Hi - I bought a new WD My Passport 750gb and I can’t drag/drop files onto it or from it - it only is letting me use it with the smartware. How do I enable drag/drop, and preferably not use the smartware software at all? Thanks!

A follow up - I also can’t reformat it in disk utilities - it errors out when I try to erase or partition it.

Hello,

  1. If you set up password protection from WDSmartWare software, remove it first.
  2. Uninstall all of  the WDSmartWare software utilities.
  3. Unplug the data (Firewire or USB) cable and the power from the WD external drive.
  4. Restart the computer.
  5. Re-connect the WD external drive.
  6. Now you can use the Disk Utility to format the drive.

After that you should be able to drag and drop files to it. 

FYI: The Virtual CD is there and  can not delete it, only can hide.

To hide the VCD from showing up, run the VCD manager,

It is in the VCD folder. 

Copy it to the desktop first and run from the desktop.

Just follow the instructions on the screen.
