I am formatting a new WD drive for a backup on an iMac OS 10.10 Yosemite. If I format the drive, will it wipe out all the WD manuals and software on the drive? Should I back up all that stuff on my internal Imac disk?

When you format the drive all the information on it will be deleted, as for the user manuals and the software they can be found on the WD Website.

Thank you for the response. Stupid me didn’t read far enough in the documentation (manuals) to see that I could either copy the files from the WD drive to my computer OR download them from the WD website. Thank you for your response. I am proceeding onward in my WD adventures…
