I’m a new user to Mac and i have just got a Time Capsule and wanted add a WD External Hard drive and have a few questions:

  1. What the difference between a WD External Hard Drive Mac Edition and External Drives for PC? as i know you can reformat the PC version for Mac

  2. Which will be the best option go for?

The MAC version has a firewire 800 interface and is faster. If you are not fuzzy about that, USB 2.0 is just fine.

I am not up to date about latest MAC versions and if they provide USB 3.0. If yes, that would probably comparable in case the drive also provides USB 3.0.

Never run a firmware update on any of these drives with the MAC version of the updater!
