Can no longer drag files into my 2TB Elements play

Hi all any help would be appreciated.

last night was the first time in 2 years i could not drag new files (movie files i.e AVI, mp4 mkv etc) over to my elements play from my macbook. 

i have a valid version of ntsf tuxera running and plenty of storage space. also the elements play is still working perfectly when playing movies connected to my tv. 

any ideas whats going on ?

i have just found that my sharing and permissions is set to ‘read only’.  how do i change this ?
