Brand New Mybook 3tb Dead

Today I bought a new Mybook 3tb. I reformated it for Mac OS Extended (Journaled.)

Tonight I had a bunch of video and audio transferred onto the drive.

When I got home and plugged in the drive. The white light now flashes once as it’s plugged in … then nothing.

The drive is not spinning nor clicking. Other than the single flash of the white light, it’s dead.

The data on the drive cannot be replaced.

Any suggestions on what to do next would be appreciated.

Meanwhile I’ll be walking into the ocean with a pocket full of rocks.

These are the symptoms regardless if it is plugged into my 2011 imac 27".

Maybe you should try contacting WD’s Technical Support about this. You can do so either by phone or email.

Regards,

this is exactly what I did. I have always been told to reformat a drive before using. We deleted the icon.
