Seagate beat WD to market with wireless HD over 2 yrs ago!

WD still does not have an answer to Seagate’s Wireless Plus or their earlier GoFlex Satellite portable wireless hard drives – even two years after they first appeared.  Many of us have had to buy the Seagate products.  They are nice products, so I don’t mind that I bought one, but WD could have had an offering, too.

So, to the WD Product Developers, here is some info to help you step on the gas:

The wireless HD has a lithium battery for portable use.  It’s perfect for travel to use in cars for kids in back seat, on airplanes, trains, etc. –  any time away from home.  Another good use is when at someone else’s house so one can easily share their media – wirelessly.  The media on the drive also can easily be shared wirelessly on any network DLNA device – at home or away. Yes, it can definitely be used at home as well – got a few kids?   While they are sitting anywhere in the house, you can let them listen to music or watch educational videos, movies etc. on iPad, Kindle, etc. and without using the home network .  It can stream three different videos at once.  At the Seagate forum, someone with a bunch of kids said they had two or three of these things.

Check out these Seagate links for more info on the competition.  The Wireless Plus is the current model with 1TB drive versus earlier 500GB Satellite that is now out of production.  So, WD let’s see the 2TB version using your new slim drives!

Heck, make a 500GB, 1TB and 2TB model and cover the price points.

I will buy a 2TB version when available – just don’t know from which company I will find it from…
