Disable SES when no password protection is used on the drive, so Windows does not try to install the device driver. It can be seen as a problem when the drive is connected to a PC of an other person or company. Also there is an unnessesary delay because Windows starts looking for the SES device driver, that was not found automaticly on any of my systems.

i agree option the smartware to enable/disable SES!
if not, can WD atleast get it on windows update?Â
The SES is a hardware channel… it’s always present and can’t be turned off by firmware.
It would seem, if passwords are not being used, as if buying a non-password drive would have been a better option… then no SES and no prompts.
This idea has been acknowledged.
