Unsafe shutdown count increase by 1 every time when shutdown laptop normally

I bought a harddisk (type WD10JPVT) ,each time I delete it from usb port or shutdown compute normally,the value of unsafe shutdown count (smart c0) will increase by 1.Whether it is normal for WD10JPVT.

If you are using it on an external enclosure, do you safely eject it before disconnecting the USB cable or turning off the PC?
