Error in WDIDLE3.exe

 hi, i want use wdidle3.exe to disable or increase head parking time of my hdd, so i burn it on bootable media, after booting media, i can only use this command : “wdidle3 /?” and it give me the options, BUT if i use other command ( such as wdidle3 /r ), the tool give me this error : “invalide opcode at [some hex value]” . after that my system going to crash and noting work at all( my keyboard i mean), then i must restart it with case button.

what can i do to fix this problem?

intel dual core e5700

2x 1Gb ddr2 800

Not sure why you have a problem it should work for you.

And not sure what bootable media you are using.

Maybe verify the tool is not corrupt too and check if its up to date ?

DESCRIPTION

  • DOS Level utility to setup or report the idle3 value.

FEATURES

  • Scan for all drives. Non-WD Drives shall only show the model and serial
      numbers.
  • Uses a Vendor Specific Command to set or get the idle3 timer.
  • Timer can be set from 8 to 25.5 seconds on older drives.
  • Timer can be set from 8 to 300 seconds on newer drives.

USAGE
WDIDLE3 [/S[]] [/D] [/R] [/?]
where:
/S[] Set timer, units in seconds. Default=8.0 (8.0 seconds).
            Resolution is 0.1 seconds from 8.0 to 12.7 seconds.
            Resolution is 30 seconds from 30 seconds to 300 seconds.
            Note, times between 12.8 and 30 seconds will be set to 30 seconds.
/D          Disable timer.
/R          Report current timer.
/?          This help info.

DOS ERRORLEVEL
0     No error
1     Drive problem
254   Internal program error
255   Invalid command line argument

tnx, i have seen this information before i use the tool.
the tool is update (version 1.05),
i dont know how to verify it’s corrupted or not. (the tool work with /? option, so may be it’s not corrupted) ( i download the tool from wdc.com in zip file and it extracted without problem)
i test it with several bootable media including : 1) a dos bootable floppy, 2) a dos bootable cd created with FDOEMCD.builder, 3 ) a dos bootable cd created with ubcd
with all of this bootable i got the same error then crash. ( with floppy i dont get any error, just crash)

how i can verify for corruption or what else i can do ?
