please forgive my english im from portugal. i have this 2TB drive WDC WD20 EARX-008FB0 its almost new, today i installed it in an external case and plugged it in the usb port of my laptop, a window popped up asking to format the drive because it hasnt any partition. chkdsk says the filesystem is raw. ubuntu detects partition sdc1 but the filesystem is unknown so cannot mount. i tried to install a 500gb wd caviar blue almost new too, and it works just fine in the same external case. i cannot find explanation for this issue. the proccess of removing the drive and installing in case was extremely cautionous, even touched metal chair to avoid electrostatic charges. should i try partition recovery software or pay for data recovery services or its just broken drive? any help would be really appreciated
Hi it could be the external case does not support 2tb drives. See if you can find a PC to plug the drive directly into the motherboard sata controller

tested it via sata in another pc. the drive is ok. it was the enclosue fault
