Can't format

I have 2 Caviar Blue drives that my windows 7 refuses to recognize or format.  Not sure where to go from here, as the Utilities won’t work.  Are they now door stops??    They are relatively new drives, so I’d hate to abandon them.

Hi does bios find the drives if not there is not much you can do. If the drives are not that old they should be under warranty and you could RMA them.

Bios does not find the drive (usually).  Sometimes it does, but won’t format it.

The drives have an April 2012 date on them.  I do not have a receipt.  I doubt I ever registered them. (Was I supposed to???)  Hopefully, that won’t make a difference…

It is possible you have the same problem than me with a brand new WD scorpio blue 1000G disk.

WD never told me that this disk has native 4k sectors, and thus IS NOT SUPPORTED by windows 7, as you can check there :

I don’t know how you can check that, you should ask WD :frowning:
