Which color categorie is the WDBH2D0020HNC?

Hello,

are the colo categories green/blue/black/red/purple obsolete?

I cannot find out which categorie the Western Digital WD Desktop Mainstream 2TB, SATA 6Gb/s, retail (WDBH2D0020HNC) is.

Does anybody know?

Thx.

Hi kaschper007. The retail kits use a different modeling scheme so it can be hard to tell just by the model number. However, the label on the retail box should indicate the drive inside. It looks like the capacity sticker on this model is green so it should be a WD Green.

i don’t see any colored label or any indication what is inside.

but your answer helped and i will get the proper caviar green disk instead.

what are the benefits of the retail kits (if any), because they are a bit more expensive.

Glad I could help. The older boxes just have the generic sticker like that box has. All the newer boxes should have a colored sticker to reflect the drive inside: I found an example of one on NewEgg ( http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=9SIA0AJ1Y20120))

The drives are physically identical but retail drives are in the graphical boxes and not a standard brown shipping box. They also typically come with additional stuff like mounting screws, documentation, etc. depending on the drive.

I included a link below with a quick explanation of the difference:
