What is wrong with your 1 TB Hard Drives?

As a technician owning a shop for over 12 years. Western Digital were always the best reliable drives. As of late , specifically with your 1 TB drives, they are failing, even new. Yesterday I reaplced a 10 month old WD 1TB drive with a new WD 1 TB drive and the client brought it back today. Ran the hard drive test and it failed. I am RMA’ing drives at 10 bucks a pop regularly and getting recert drives. I am totally disgusted as I don;t charge the customer because I feel it is on me to warranty it but I am wasting a lot of time and money because of these faulty drives. In a few cases nothing was recoverable -cleint’s lost all their data- from a drive either basically new or a few months old. What gives? Is there no Quality Control??

Maybe you should try contacting WD’s Technical Support about this. You can do so either by phone or email.
