WD7501AALS Problems

I purchased a WD7501AALS a couple of days ago and ever since then I’ve been having problems. Sometimes the HDD disappears from My Computer and Disk Management, other times it is extremely slow when accessing files. Sometimes it will transfer at 100+MB/s, and other times it will drop significantly, freeze my PC altogether, or at the very least prevent me from opening and closing processes, forcing me to do a hard reboot. Checked the S.M.A.R.T. status earlier and it passed. I ran chkdsk and an extended diagnostic, all came back good. Also, I just tried to save a file and got this error: “The request could not be preformed because of an I/O error.”

Any ideas? Thanks!

please use hard disk sentinel just to see is reported health…

even with god health i would return it back to the store and get a new one because of the I/O error that you reported

You could also try to change the SATA cable and try a different SATA port on your MoBo.
