WD10S12X SSHD pcm fault

Hi

I recently purchased a sonly flip 14 second hand and around a month after the SSHD failed. I returned it to the retailer under their own warranty policy only to replace it with an inferior drive. I have the faulty SSHD and with nothing to loose i removed the pcb board to have an investigate only to find a short of some sort. The drive is dated January 2014 but being an oem drive i understand i have no warranty option. Being such a new drive is the pcb available to buy separately? Thanks

Hello and welcome to the WD community.

I have not tried this. Since this is not supported by WD, lets see if another user can help out with tips and information on this matter.

The damage appears to be at the interconnection between the SATA multiplier PCB and the SSD PCB. Therefore I suspect that both boards may be faulty. You might be lucky and be able to salvage the HDD, but you would need to hack into it with separate SATA power and data cables.
