I have been a long standing customer of WD since 2002. I have used over 30 drives from WD being a loyal customer.
This is the second WD Raptor that has died on me since 2010. When my first WD Raptor died in 2010 I was not given a replacement raptor but instead a WD External 1TB drive. Nevertheless I purchased another new Velociraptor , serial number [Deleted- Privacy],
A few days ago this drive died as it would not get detected. I am an experienced IT Professional with over 14 years of IT experience so I tried everything to get this drive running. Today I contacted Redington Gulf - UAE distributor - for a warranty and replacement. They told me that since the drive is 4 years old no replacement can be given and I can get a depreciated amount of US$36 to use towards any WD product. This is not what I want. I paid AED 650 i.e. US$176 for this drive and want a replacement.
Has anyone else gotten the stick from WD about depreciation and warranty?
