WD Red and Synology DS1812+

Hi there,

it is stated everywhere that WD Red drives are for NAS devices with up to 5 disks. I wonder why there is a limit. I have a Synology DS1812+ NAS with 8 disks (4x1TB WD10EADS and 4x2TB WD20EARS) and interested in replacing them with WD30EFRX drives. Is it possible, is it tested anyway? Is it a fact that they will not work in a NAS like that or not? If I replace the drives will warranty work?

Thanks,

iRon

Hi, it doesn’t mean that it will not work but WD cannot guaranty that it will, since it has not been tested. You can try to contact the manufacturer of the 8 disk NAS to verify if it will be compatible.
