WD Red 3TB showing up as 2tb

Hi

Have a problem, bought two WD Red Drives, one shows up as 3tb and the other shows up as 2tb

As they were brand spanking new they were not formatted so was asked when windows booted to format them as GUID or MBR etc, selected GUID but one still shows up as 2tb

Tried GPARTed Live and that only sees it as a 2tb as well

Is there a firmware upgrade or do i have a dodgy drive? as i have tried everything and no luck

Used the diagnostic tool and it recognises it as a 3001gb drive

Assuming Windows…

It needs to be initialzed GPT not MBR

You’ll have to do a disk part clean and re-initilize GPT. (then you can format 3TB full)
