WD Caviar Balc 2 TB not recognized

Guys,

I know this subject has been discussed number of times, but i was not able to find any solution to this. This is the WD elements external drive which I crack opened and was using it as desktop drive. I kept some data transfer overnight and in the morning there was a message to some file not copied for file name too long or some similar message. I skipped it and then when i restarted I dont see this drive in Windows nor in BIOS. I took it out and connected it using USB with the elements case, no luck. I see the green light just keeps blinking and when I notice the drive spins too. It was not detected in USB interface also.

Now I noticed another thing, even though the BIOS or OS doesnt recognize this drive but it slows the boot of OS considerablly. I takes almost 2-3 minutes as against 8 sec boot.

Any idea what can I do next or is it that I need to brick it.

Hi, if you have tried another SATA cable or another motherboard and it’s still not recognized, replace it.
