WD 2TB Green - sounds from case as if drive is constantly being accessed

Hey guys, recently I had a Hard Drive crash - it was devastating and I lost a lot of data.

However I had to move on. I purchased backblaze to backup my files and a new Western Digital HD and a new copy of Windows 7. Computer has been working fine for a few weeks - however I’ve noticed the computer getting hot, nothing too dangerous, but decided to move computer up to top of desk instead of under so it can disappate the heat more (it was very hot under the desk).

Since it’s been up here and now sitting next to me, I can hear the Hard Drive CONSTANTLY running or being accessed. I thought at first it was a fan (I do have a fan dying but it’s not it) but it seems to be the HD. Doesn’t seem to change if I am writing things to the drive, always making the same noise. I never figured out how to add the light to the front of the case to see if the drive is being accessed, lol, so can’t check visually.

Is it just loud? Is it normal? Should I do something to prevent?

My system:

Processor AMD FX™-8120 Eight-Core Processor

WD Green WD20EXRX 2TB

Video Card NVIDIA GeForce GTX 650

Memory 8.1 GB
Operating System Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium Edition Service Pack 1 (build 7601), 64-bit

Hello,

See if this link helps.

How to tell if the noise or sound the drive is making is normal
