Regular Clicking of Hard Drive

A minute or two after boot-up, the drive starts making a regular ‘clunk’ then a few clicks every 4 seconds. It is not a loud clunk so I doubt that the head is broken or stuck, and the drive works normally with reading and writing. This started to happened recently, after having the drive for a little over 1 year now. The drive is secondary, as I have an SSD for the primary. I have set the drive to go to sleep after 1 minute of inactivity, and it did that for a month or so, about a month ago, but since then there seems to be constant activity. I have checked that there are no programs accessing it, and I have run both the windows, and your disk diagnostics tool, but got a message saying that the drive is working properly. I have also defragged the drive twice, but to no avail. Is there any way that this can so solved so that the click pattern stops and the drive goes to sleep.

Thanks if anyone helps.

Also test the drive using the DLG tool.
