Now I understand the use of Black drives for RAID is not supported, however, I know that my WD1501FASS drives have been working just fine for over a year in a RAID 10. I wish to increase my capacity a bit, and I have two more spaces on my controller. However, the price and availability of the WD1501FASS is scarce, or insanely priced. Would using a WD1502FAEX jumpered to SATAII mode work for my needs? Or should I direct this question to Adaptec? Thanks to anyone who can help.

They have the same specs, so it should work. But yes, it’s better for you to contact Adaptec to be sure.
