Issues with Western Digital Black2 Dual Drive Installation Software

I installed the WD Black2 Dual Drive on my Lenovo Y50, but the installation software cannot detect the drive, so I can’t access the HDD portion. I checked to see if my storage was in a RAID configuration but it isn’t, so what is the problem? Why won’t the software detect the drive?

Hi there and welcome to the WD community.

Try to check if you can see the drive under Disk management, it the computer can see it then try to download the software again from the support site to see if the drive is visible again.

In case this does not work i would recommend contacting support:

Hi Jolee0722,

There are a few things that can cause the software not to detect the WD Black2 drive, for example if the system has an ASMedia controller and some specific types of chipset drivers. Check the FAQ page of the WD Black2 and the KB’s below for some additional info:

Tried everything mentioned above to no avail. Contacted WD Support but haven’t found the time to call them up.

Did you have any problems with the physical installation of the drive? I have been trying to figure out if I can fit the 9.5mm thick WD Black Dual Drive into the new Y50-70 that I just purchased. The stock drive is only 7mm, so I’m not sure if it will work.

Hi jolee, I just buy the drive, it really fit inside the computer?
