Is the WD alignment tool one verison for all?

I found that the Scorpio Blue(1G) could not be aligned by using the alignment tool for WD Green Caviar.

It cannot be recognized as a WD advanced formatted drive.

By the way, will the performance of an advanced formatted drive drop in Windows Vista/7 after it is aligned?

Hi Windows vista and windows 7 and windows 8 do not need to be aligned they align the drive. The drive would perform better after it was aligned if it was needed. There is a hotfix for vista 32 bit from ms
