I am unable to boot with wd10ears

I have bought wd10ears (1TB Green drive). I have set jumper at 7 & 8 pins to use it with XP. I have figured out that I do not have any Diskette drive to provide drivers for Win XP. I have removed the jumper and now I cannot boot my PC if the drive is connected (with or without jumper). It does not get to boot device selection, it does not allow me to enter BIOS setup until I remove the drive.

Is there anything I can do to use the drive?

Did you ever get this figured out?

Unfortunately I could not do anything with the drive in the old machine.

Initially tt successfully boot up a few times when I have just bought it, but then the boot prcess hanged and I could not boot with this drive on old machine. This happened after I have removed XP switch (connects pins 7 & 8). I tried put it on and off without success. I tried removing FDD, other HDD but without success. I have not tried removing SCSI thou. May be this causes some conflict. I do not know.

Finally I have moved the drive into a new machine and it works fine.
