HI, I posted about perfomance issues with my WD Red 6TB a few weeks, but after fixing a misconfiguration issue, I thought the drive was working well and put it to use. Lately I’ve been using it for a things which depend on random read/write performance and I was surprised to see the drive struggling compared to other drives I own.

I had a look online and I saw a review of the Red 6TB ( http://www.tweaktown.com/reviews/6535/western-digital-red-6tb-nas-consumer-hdd-review/index9.html ) which compared the original firmware version (68MYMN0) with an updated firmware (68MYMN1). The performance, particularly random read/write was improved tremendously by the updated firmware.

Is this firmware available online somewhere? I couldn’t see anything under support on the WD site.

Thanks for that, I’ve got a support case going now. Hopefully it won’t be too long before the fixed firmware is made available.

Hi Ryley… same probleme here - really bad performance with the 68MYMN0 modell… any news if WD did replace your faulty drives yet?
