Couldn’t find this stated but I’ve picked up a small Autoldr but after removing my existing LTO drive and trying to configure the autoldr get an error about Automation license… guessing the free tape license is for single stand-alone drive?
That is correct.
The WD Arkeia Free Use version does not include a license for Tape Automation (Libraries or Autoloaders) after the 30 Day Trial period expires. However, you could still use the free ersions by encorporating mtx to load and unload the tape using cron depending on your tape usage policy.
Thanks… yeah would love to have been able to stay with Arkeia as it’s worked well but needs something that’ll work with the autoloader so it’s off to Bacula I guess. Appreicate your assistance.
