New Release - Firmware Version 1.02.06 for My Book World Edition I & II (1/4/2011)

Hello

Manual Firmware not work: Failed to upload new firmware image to system

Automatic Firmware : no new Firmware found

I have MyBoomkWorld wihte   Light 1TB with Firm 1.02.05

@Aeron, thank you so much!

Hi,

me I do have the same problem. I quit now with WD and will change to synology ds211j with two samsung 2TB. After the firmwraeupdate my mybookworld2 was killed. Thx a lot WD. After the timeless process of changing hardware before it’s now the second and last to time to renew the hardware. After repair it’ll be inserted at EBAY and than the HD is history in my mind. Synology let’s come together

nice greetings to all beta-tester of WD with science hardware and not customerready !!

Strange…

For me, after update, it’s ok

There is a big change :

Before, to go in setup of MBW was very very slow!!!

Now it’s fast ! good !

I suppose that before the old firmware (1.01.18) it’s ok only for old windows and not for Windows 7.

And now, the 3 backup on “WD Anywhere backup” that I create and run together - for one PC, they run, all 3 (before, sometime 1 or 2 stop without reason)

And I have another PC with “WD Anywhere backup” with one backup, and it run right too. It’s ok when two PC are “ON”

It’s too early to say “victory”, and I wait…

But after 3 days, WDMBW don’t stop when I use the PC… I hope for the futur

As you, The last year, I must buy a synology NAS because one year with problem WD, it’s not happy…

But  it’s possible now I have another think…

A little thank to WD for a new firmware, because ONE YEAR to resolve this… it’s long

Happy new year for all

Hello, I have updated to the latest version but the problem remained.

media server boots the system by 100% and then the device may stop responding …

Hi,

I did the auto firmware update, and same as a previous post in the thread, I’m no longer able to access /Media/Media Server to get into Twonky’s GUI.

My browser gives me an error saying it can’t open the page. (the url shows http://XXX.XXX.X.XXX:80:9000/),,) X being the device’s IP.

Someone posted a possible fix that involved going in with SSH to delete the song database. I tried that, but it doesn’t fix the problem.

Can anyone help me out? Thanks a lot.

Edit:

I just want to point out that this update fixes the one issue I had: I no longer need to rename files from .avi to .mpg for them to play on my PS3. Very happy about that.

Broke one thing, but fixes another, so it’s not all that bad.

http://XXX.XXX.X.XXX:80:9000/ → " :80 :9000" seems to be wrong. Can you access the Twonky Gui by going to http://XXX.XXX.X.XXX:9000/ ?

Or was that just a typo?

Same as Meteorman,

just returned from RMA a MyBoomkWorld wihte Light 1TB witn 01.01.08 :mansurprised: firmware.

Can’t upgrade manually ad auto…

must I trow it??

Why everyone want to upgrade it so badly?

I treat new firmwares like BIOS in windows… always reading description what they fix…

and generally following “not broken - dont fix it” rule.

I have too much customised my WD My Book World too loose it all with some fw upgrade which just upgrades stuff I dont use anyway (judging by official firmware description).

So, be wise about your choise.

Newer dont always mean better.

Bukevich: How did you manage to update Twonky? Can you give instructions?

Thanks!

It wasn’t a typo, but this is strange… I just tried accessing the GUI again (didn’t try since I posted my last message), and now it works! It accesses mybookworld.local.:9000/ and works just like before.

I don’t know why it’s working now, but I’m not going to complain.

So the firmware update worked for me! It fixed the one issue I was having (yay!) and hasn’t caused any extra bugs.

Thanks anyways Wonderl!

+1 successful upgrade

Thanks to various people on this forum for guiding me through how to update this firmware. How can WD be so obstructive to their customers on what should be a routine update. I doubt I will ever invest in WD products again - too much hassle, albeit MBW does actually work well for me - just the lack of any support from WD.

I was also able to automatically update my WD to 1.02.06 from 1.01.18. Hopefully this (and the updated WD software) will fix the stability problems I’m having with the unit. I’ve only been able to run about 1-2 weeks before it would fail and need a reboot to continue running backups.

Can any one confirm this firmware fixes the issue with the My book world edition II becoming un accessable after a short period of time ?? i had to disable twonkly and Mionet via SSH to stop my drive going off line after a couple hours

I haven’t used my  MBWEII for about 1 year or more because it didn’t work, so I was waiting for THIS new firmware.

FINALLY, FW v1.02.06 is out and working perfectly, doing everything it supposed to do, NO MORE HEADACHES!

Now I can say thanks WD.

Will the latest version of Twonky (6.0.30) work?  Reason I ask, if so, why is WD only upgrading it to 5.1.9

Not sure if I’m the only one seeing this, but whenI go to:

http://www.wdc.com/wdproducts/updates/?family=mbworld

it says “Release 1.02.06 (1/4/2010)” – last year!

Typo?

Hi everybody,

“automated update” doesn’t work at my MBWE. Where do i find the file for manual updating? Google doesn’t show any files.

Thanks alot!
