Firmware 2.02.32 Not playing all mp4 files

Sorry, that’s what I meant. Notification not actual updating.

There is NO auto-updating on the WDTV, it’s just an update notification!

True, you can only turn off the automatic checking.

Useless…

I havent been able to use the previous ver of the firmware as it couldnt find my library. Finally a new one, and it only plays “some” of my files…

Pathetic WD…

same here, upgraded to 2032 and no more mp4 streaming.

WD??? ARE YOU THERE???

Yes, I am having the same issue as well, as soon as I upgraded my firmware. Some will play and others will not. I’ve converted some of my files to avi, but this is not the solution. Hope there is an new firmware upgrade soon to fix this!!

You don’t have to spend extra time converting them, apparently just remuxing them (or resaving them in a non-reencoding editor) is good enough to work around this stupid amateur programming defect in this firmware.

Thank you Scree. I managed to find this link which lead me to a freeware program, mymp4box,  that enabled me to mux the mp4’s. Takes seconds to do!

Thank you!

Works for my problem podcast files downloaded from the TWIT network. ( http://twit.tv)..)

Had same problem and I am not a techy - but followed your link and instructions - AND IT WORKED!!  Thanks so much!

Worked for me too.  How com WD havn’t bothered to fix this as it’s been  going on for a long time now?

Because WD only does “big” updates, they don’t do hotfixes. So once they have a bunch of other things fixed and/or added, they’ll release the next one (probably months away).

I just got the wdtv media player, I wanted to play all my videos that I have stored on wd my cloud but it is not working. WD support had me shut down, restart, and rebuild and nothing that they have suggested worked. I am currently using firmare WDMyCloud v04.01.00-408 : Core F/W …

The WDTV will play some of my videos but not all of them. Seems to play only 25% of my mp4 files.

Can anyone tell me what to do???

Thank you, I am very frustrated with WD!!!

I called WD Support and the firmware that you are all talking about is not available for the media player which I have. If I return this and buy the older version, will I FINALLY be able to sit back and watch my videos???

HAS ANY ONE BEEN ABLE TO WATCH THEIR VIDEOS WITH WDTV???

Have you read this thread?

Obviously the first thing to do is establish what firmware version you’re running on your WD HD TV live.

If it is 2.02.32 then read this thread for the solution. If it is an earlier version than your issue does not related to this thread and you’re best to look elsewhere for a solution.

I reverted the firmware to 2.01.86  but no luck, still MP4 & MKV  files not playing.

I contacted  WD support  they have no clue how to make it work.

Post the Mediainfo text output of one of those files that don’t work. You’ve done a reset after rolling back, have you?

Trick on page 9 with ffmpeg rock solid. After it my mp4 files becomes playable again on wd tv.

ffmpeg -i file.mp4 -map_metadata -1 -map_chapters -1 -c:v copy -c:a copy file.FIXED.mp4

Also there is problem mediainfo file:

And this one same files after ffmpeg fixes:

Something wrong with metadata?

Yes I did a reset  by going to system menu. How can I get media info?
